What is Complain.com ?

Complain.com is a website where consumers can read, post and comment on complaints concerning purchased products and/or services.

How will Complain.com help me?

Complain.com will enable consumers to:

  1. File complaints for public view
  2. Read other consumer complaints
  3. Review business responses
  4. Get help with your complaint issue
  5. Comment on other complaints
  6. Share your experiences with others
  7. Help others avoid similar problems

Is there a cost for being a member?

Being a member of  Complain.com is completely free and will always be free. In the future, however, there may be a premium option available to our members.

How do I search a complaint?

To search complaints:

  1. Enter your search in the Search for Complaints on File field on the Home page

OR

  1. Go to Advanced Search
  2. Under Complaint Search , complete one or more of the fields; Term, Business Name, Complaint #, Post Date
  3. Click Search to find a listing of complaint results
  4. Click on the individual complaint you wish to view

How do I search a company?

To search a company:

  1. Go to Advanced Search
  2. To search a company alphabetically go to Business Browse, or specifically under Business Directory Search .
  3. Enter the company name and/or Business Category .
  4. Click Search to find a listing of companys
  5. Click on the individual company you wish to view

How do I post a complaint?

To post a complaint

  1. Register on Complain.com
  2. Click Post a Complaint and complete the form. Note, you will need to be signed in and may be prompted to do so.
  3. Click on Post a Complaint
  4. An email confirmation will be sent to you

What should I consider when posting a complaint?

Complaints should:

  1. describe an actual first hand consumer experience
  2. be written by the consumer that had the experience
  3. be suitable for a general family audience
  4. be constructive in nature, seeking a positive result or communication
  5. indicate a desired outcome

When I post a complaint is the company contacted?

When you post a complaint, the company is contacted in one or both or two ways:

  1. via Email, and/or
  2. via VoiceMail

Please note that this only applies when the company's information is available at time of posting. If the company was not available in the provided drop down when posting, or you did not enter this information when prompted, the company may not respond.

How do I respond to a complaint?

You may Respond to a Complaint if you are an individual who wishes to make a general comment, or if you represent the company in question.  To respond a complaint:

  1. Find a complaint from the Home page or go to Search a Complaint
  2. Once on the complaint page, go to the Post a Comment section below the complaint
  3. Enter a Comment Title and your Comment. If you represent the company, you must first check the box 'I claim to represent the business that is the subject of this complaint' . Note, you will need to be signed in and may be prompted to do so.

Is my complaint/comment uploaded immediately?

Yes, all complaints/comments are uploaded instantly and will appear live for public view. Note that comments from a representative of the company are posted as Comments until such time as it is determined that the sender does in fact represent the company. Once approved this will change to Business Reply .

Please ensure your comments are appropriate otherwise they will be removed and your account canceled. Please see our Privacy Policy for further details.

How do I resolve my complaint?

To resolve your complaint:

  1. Wait until the business responds to your complaint
  2. The reply will automatically be posted as a Comment
  3. Admin will review the validity of the business author
  4. Once satisfied, the reply will change from a Comment to a Business Reply
  5. You will receive an email confirming the business reply
  6. Click on the link in the email to re-enter the complaint
  7. You will be able to select Resolve if you wish to resolve the complaint

Can I contact another member?

Yes . To contact another member:

  1. Sign In to your account
  2. Click on a members Username within a complaint
  3. Within the members Profile select the tab Email
  4. Enter a Subject and Message and click Send
  5. An email will then be sent from the email address you listed in your Profile
  6. If you don't wish to be contactable, uncheck the relevant box in your Profile

How private is my complaint posting/comment?

All information, other than what you type in the body of your message, is kept private. Furthermore, a message author can always edit or delete his or her own message at any time.

How is my privacy protected?

The privacy and safekeeping of your personal information is our top priority. Your contact information will never be shared with third parties, nor will you be the subject of spam as a result of joining this program. The information held by identity.net is secure and protected by sophisticated privacy technology. All data is stored in encrypted format with tightly controlled electronic access. How do I mark a comment as inappropriate?

When inside an individual complaint, you will see next to each comment a Mark Inappropriate link. Clicking on this link will remove the comment until such time the Administrator from Complain.com has time to review it. If it is deemed inappropriate, it will stay deleted. If not, it will be reinstated.

Why would I rate a complaint?

Rating a complaint is purely optional. When inside an individual complaint, you will see next to each complaint, a Rate Complaint link. This is simply asking you to vote Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down whether you found this complaint helpful.

What is my responsibility after posting a comment?

Consumers and businesses are responsible, legally and otherwise, for all messages they posted to Complain.com for public view. If a message author writes something that isn't true, the message is still posted to Complain.com for public view. Complain.com does not edit or censor posted messages. Furthermore, Complain.com is NOT responsible for the validity and any possible consequences of the messages it posts. See our Terms of Service page for more information.

Can I view my complaints and comments?

Yes . To view your posted complaints, comments entered, responses to your complaints, and resolutions:

  1. Sign In to your account
  2. Select Profile at the top of the page
  3. Click on the desired tabs
  4. Follow Up, Edit or Delete a complaint/comment

Can I edit or delete my complaint or comment?

Yes . To edit or delete your complaint or comment:

  1. Sign In to your account
  2. Select Profile at the top of the page
  3. Click on Complaints and then Edit or Delete to modify or remove your complaint, OR
  4. Click on Comments and then Edit or Delete to modify or remove your comment

What if I forget my Login or Password?

If you forget your Login (Username/Email Address) or Password:

  1. Click here
  2. Enter either the username or email address you registered with
  3. You will be sent an email with your current Username and new Password

To change your new Password:

  1. Sign In to your account
  2. Select Profile at the top of the page
  3. Enter and then confirm a new Password
  4. Click Save

How do I change my personal information?

To edit your personal information follow these steps:

  1. Sign In to your account
  2. Select the Profile at the top of the page
  3. Modify your information (including adding an avatar)
  4. Click Save

How can I cancel my account?

If you wish to cancel your Complain.com account, please write to support at complain dot com.
